Burns, David Harold, Antigonish

With sadness in our hearts, the family of David Harold Burns, 73, of Antigonish, announce his passing after losing his brave battle with cancer. David passed away peacefully on June 23, 2013 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born January 31, 1940 in Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick, David was the son of the late Borden and Stella (Banks) Burns.

Always a hard worker, David started fishing lobster in 1957, when he was only 17 years old. He moved to Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 1961. He was very proud of his consulting business, D. H. B. Consulting, which allowed him to travel throughout the Atlantic Provinces, Quebec and the Eastern USA, sharing his vast knowledge and experience of the lobster industry.

David is remembered by his wife of 50 years, Carol (Wood); his son, Jeffrey (Joann Campbell), Port Hawkesbur, Nova Scotia; his daughter, Stacy Juurlink (Garrett) of Antigonish, Nova Scotia; his grandchildren, Sarah Moen, Alexander Burns, Ria and Owen Juurlink (who always made him smile); and one brother, Clarence Burns, Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm Tuesday, June 25th in the C. L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. A funeral service in his memory will be conducted on Wednesday, June 26th at 11:00 am in St. James United Church, Antigonish with Rev. Peter Smith presiding. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to St. Martha's Regional Hospital Foundation ( Oncology or Palliative Care ) On line condolences: www.clcurry.com
